Manna & Mercy

October 8, 2022 by Pastor Repp

A Brief History of God’s Unfolding Promise to Mend the Entire Universe

This vibrant, in-depth exploration of the Bible is based on the late Pastor Daniel Erlander’s book by the same name, and focuses on God’s grace and never-ending love for all creation.

Manna and Mercy is a book about God–more specifically, the God of the Bible who is  present and active in human history and in our lives today. Through his distinctive  illustrations and hand-lettered text, Erlander conveys the continuity of God’s covenant of life, justice, and inclusion to all people and all of creation. God is in the  business of mending the universe, and we are all Partner People in that work.

The good folks at Augsburg Fortress Publishing have taken the original book and created 16 sessions each for adults/high-school, confirmation students, and elementary school kids, so that congregations could involve everyone in this study at the same time. There are even four shorter sessions for preschoolers, each with its own board book, which we hope to use as the basis of four multi-generational sessions spread out through the year. The full schedule is not yet set, but with the first Sunday of each month reserved for our Strategic Planning sessions, we’ll plan on starting on October 9 and finishing up in April or early May. You may order the book from Augsburg Fortress at this link. Even if you don’t have a book yet, go ahead and join us. We’ll meet from 10:45-11:45 in the Fellowship Hall.

Food Pantry Needs

Food Pantry Update

The GLC Food Pantry is very thankful for your continued support and your prayers on behalf of this important ministry. We continue to distribute food via the drive-thru system begun at the start of the pandemic.

CURRENT NEEDS:  We would love to give our families fresh apples. If you find a good price, please consider purchasing an extra bag and placing it in the cooler in the south kitchen.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING PLASTIC BAGS OR EGG CARTONS AT THIS TIME. CURRENTLY WE HAVE A SURPLUS OF THESE ITEMS. WE WILL ASK YOU FOR THEM WHEN WE NEED THEM AGAIN.  THANK YOU.

We appreciate your contributions and your prayers on behalf of the work we do together.

Your Pantry Board,

Kathy Bowersox, Jim Fleming, Dale Herrstrom, Karen Krusa, and Royce Wilken
