Food Pantry

August 25, 2025 by office

Due to new guidelines from Champaign-Urbana Public Health, our Food Pantry is currently using a drive-thru distribution method.

Grace Lutheran Food Pantry is open every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Grace Lutheran Church is located at the corner of Springfield and Prospect Avenue in Champaign.  The CU MTD 5 Green Bus runs down Springfield Avenue and has stops near the church.  For more information on CU MTD routes, please see the CU MTD webpage (https://www.cumtd.com/).

The GLC Food Pantry has been working to alleviate hunger by providing emergency food for nearly 40 years. Currently we serve an average of 120-150 families each month. The pantry is open on Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Since COVID-19, we have been distributing food via a drive-thru system, which has worked very well. We are an agency of the Eastern Illinois Food Bank, which serves 19 counties in eastern Illinois.

Client families may come to our pantry one time per month. Everyone in Champaign County is welcome. We are committed to helping those in need. Other sources of emergency food can be found here.

Our Food Pantry Proxy Form can be used if you cannot make it in to the pantry, and someone else is picking the food up and bringing it to you. Both parties (you and the person picking the food up for you) have to sign the Proxy Form before the person picking the food up arrives at the Pantry. The Form can be found below to print and sign at home.

Food Pantry Needs

The GLC Food Pantry is thankful for your continued support and prayers on behalf of this important ministry. We continue to distribute food every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. via a drive-thru system started during the pandemic.

If you would like to contribute to the pantry, you can give online or bring in the items specified below:

  • Plastic grocery bags
  • Egg cartons
  • If you bring fresh produce or perishables, please label them “GLC Pantry” and place in one of the fridges in the south kitchen.

We appreciate your contributions and prayers on behalf of the work we do together.

Your Pantry Board: Jim Fleming, Dale Herrstrom, Karen Krusa, Marlys Scarbrough and Bruce Winter
