The 2018 Champaign-Urbana Crop Walk will be Sunday, October 14, at 2:00 p.m. Grace Lutheran would like once again to be among the top fundraisers of local churches. Please consider walking or donating to a walker to help end local and world hunger.  You can register to be part of Grace’s team or donate to the team at crophungerwalk.org. Cash and checks made out to CWS/CROP may be donated in the Narthex at the Crop Walk table.

            Grace will also be a watering station the day of the walk. We will need several volunteers to welcome walkers to our church and provide refreshments. Sign up to volunteer or donate food at the Crop Walk table.

The GLC Social Ministry Committee has volunteered our congregation to provided 30 PB&J sandwiches on the 2^nd Sunday of each month for the Salvation Army Canteen Run.

The Canteen Run delivers these sandwiches to the homeless in our community. You supply 3 loaves of bread and deliver the sandwiches to the Salvation Army on Sunday afternoon.

The church supplies the bags, peanut butter, and jelly. So grab 3 to 5 friends and/or family members to help assemble and individually bag the sandwiches.

Martin Luther once called the book of James ‘an epistle of straw,’ and to this day James is cited against Luther. Is there any reconciling Luther and James? The Adult Sunday School will tackle this and other questions as we  study the Book of James this Fall during Adult Sunday School.  We meet in the Hoffmeister room. (9:15-10:00 a.m.).

Grace’s Food Pantry has been chosen as a recipient of the Schnucks – Bags 4 My Cause Program for the Savoy Schnucks (1301 Savoy Plaza Center) for the month of October.  For every white Hunger bag purchased during the month, Schnucks will donate $1 to our Food Pantry.

The next Hops and Hymns will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, at Riggs Beer Company (1901 S High Cross Road, Urbana).  Drinks are available from Riggs with food available from the Thai-Lao Cuisine Food Truck.  This is a family friendly event, so those of all ages are welcome to come.

Since there is a Hops and Hymns planned this month, there will be no Pub Theology.
